Well, I tried it. Didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, though. I'll keep it in mind, and maybe fool around with it some more. I posted it in my scraps, if anyone is interested in my results. [link]

Well, to be honest it's a nice result. A bit of depth of field can help a lot to improve the final result.
Also, the lights are always very important.

Interesting you should mention lights. I just finished up another experiment this morning using Light Emitting Objects in Poser Pro 2012. If further experiments with this turn out as nice, I may never use light sets again! :D

I have the same impression like you about the light emitters, but don't let them fool you, because in the end, you always need at least a couple of light.
One of the best combos is a couple of light panels placed at the side of you character, something that "block" the light from bottom and back and one light to have specular and shadow. You can see the results on our Ava Adore images. We use two spheres as light emitters.
